Kenya 2018

12th - 22nd November 2018

Our visit to the Masai Mara in Kenya was primarily to photograph the predators and their prey that the Mara is famous for. We stayed 9-days at Oltepesi Tented Safari Camp in a Masai village situated just outside the Masai Mara NP boundary and had the exclusive use of a Land Cruiser safari vehicle with driver/guide. The vehicle has been specially modified to suit wildlife photographers requirements including low angle photography and battery charging facilities. We also purchased an 'off-road license' which was really necessary to get the most out of a

visit and our daily itineraries were arranged to suit what subjects we wanted to photograph.

All the superb meals, and beverages were included in this package which was purchased from Arnfinn Johansen Wildlife Photography AS. Unfortunately, due to an unexpected situation, joint owner and guide John Siololo was unavailable during our week and was substituted by three other capable guides.

The amazing Masai Mara and its wildlife must be experienced to be appreciated and staying at Oltepesi Tented Safari Camp in a genuine Masai village made this a perfect and unforgettable visit and which can be thoroughly recommended to all serious wildlife photographers. In all about 100 species of birds were identified although not all could be photographed and many LBJ’s just had to be ignored unfortunately.

A selection of mammal images from this trip may be found under Diverse Nature, Mammals - Kenya 2018
