Thailand 2014

9th - 28th January 2014

This trip was a self organised 2-man birding trip aimed at seeing as many species as possible. Both of us had been to Thailand earlier but we had some target species neither of us had seen earlier and also some specific areas we wanted to explore. The first week was spent in the south, starting at Bann Pak Thale and Lame Pak Bia areas, then moving on to Kaeng Krachan for a few days. For transport and guiding here we employed the services of Wild Bird Eco company but although the logistics, traveling, lodges etc. were good we cannot say that about the guiding which was less that average for experienced birders. The second half of the trip was in northern Thailand starting at Chang Mai and then traveling to our planned locations with a self drive hire car. Our itinerary included the popular Doi Lang area with its amazing number of exciting bird species. Between us we recorded 355 bird species and although this was not specifically a photo trip we managed to photograph many interesting birds.
